Westgate Housing Community

Westgate Housing, Inc. is the managing general partner of Westgate Housing. The WHI board was established in 2001 and is unique in its level of tenant involvement.  Tenants now make up a majority of the WHI Board of Directors, giving them clear control over their housing. 

WHI seeks to maintain Westgate affordably and in the interest of its residents.  By employing a full-time Community Services Coordinator, we support community initiatives and run a variety of programs from the Community Center. 

WHI Board of Directors

Ingrid Gordon, President and Tenant:  Ingrid Gordon is a retired nurse who has lived at Westgate for 5 years. She is treasurer of the Westgate Tenants Association and an active volunteer in a number of programs at Westgate. In 2011 she received the Westgate Volunteer of the Year award. In her spare time Ingrid enjoys painting and volunteering with the Shriners. Ingo_u_0706@comcast.net

Frank Adams, Vice President and Tenant:  Frank is the former President of the Westgate Tenants Association and is a very active volunteer at Westgate and with the Shriners. He is a lead coordinator of the Vacation Lunch Program and Senior Farm Share. Condor91764@comcast.net

Jesse Kayan, Treasurer:  Before joining the board in 2011, Jesse served as the Community Services Coordinator to Westgate for 2 ½ years. Currently, Jesse, his wife Caitlin and an additional farming partner run Wild Carrot Farm in Brookline, VT where they grow organic vegetables and raise pastured sheep, turkeys, and chickens for meat and eggs.

Lisa Shippee, Secretary and Tenant: Lisa is a long-time Westgate resident and owner of Scissor Masters, a salon in Brattleboro.  She is a dedicated volunteer and businesswoman and serves as secretary on the Westgate Tenants Association Board as well.  Shippeel@comcast.net

Karen Cribari:  Karen has been active on the WHI board since the inception of the organization. She works as a Restorative Justice Panel Coordinator at Youth Services of Windham County and enjoys sewing in her spare time.  Karen_Cribari@youthservicesinc.org

Wendy Scott, Tenant:  Wendy raises 4 children at Westgate where she is involved in a variety of initiatives. She has lived at Westgate for 4 years and is employed full-time at Wal-Mart. She enjoys working in a community of neighbors. darkangelws@yahoo.com

Bill Alexander, Tenant: Bill has lived at Westgate for 3 ½ years and is a retired postal worker. Bill enjoys many activities and regularly volunteers to drive community members to appointments and meetings.

Staff

Marie Boisvert: Marie began her role as the Community Services Coordinator in February, 2011. She is delighted to work with an involved and enthusiastic community dedicated to empowering their residents and youth. Before working with Westgate, Marie spent several years working on organic farms and dairies. westgatehousing@comcast.net

The WHI Board meets the second Tuesday of each month in the Westgate Community Center.  All meetings are open to the public and there is always time for visitors' agenda at the beginning of each meeting
