Westgate Boys and Girls Club - May, 2008 (Calendar below)
April Highlights
We continued our weekly trips to the Flat St. Club where members can join in with others on the basketball court, skate park and play the drums and piano. Sunny even taught Lisa a song. Early in the month we headed to Brattleboro Bowl. The Club received a few really cool items - including a Nintendo Wii game system, a digital camera and a dust pan and broom. Members equally cheered for all items (some sarcastically, I think). Over vacation week we left Vermont and headed to Keene to the YMCA to go swimming. Club members filled more than one van! Also during the vacation at Memorial Park we came across 3 shelters. The kids then headed down the hill to the stage to perform. The week ended with a kickball game with the teens.Staff Changes:
Liz has taken a full time job with the Youth Horticulture Project at UVM. She looks forward to seeing everyone again this summer at the farm. Kella is back. As some of you may remember, Kella used to work here a couple years ago as a junior staff. She then graduated high school and left our club here at Westgate and went off to college. She attended Vermont Technical College for one year in the Landscape Development and Ornamental Horticulture program. Through her year away from the club she realized how much she missed working with children and decided to leave school. She is now back to join the staff here at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Brattleboro.
